The Medical Biller program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to work as an entry-level medical biller in front-office duties in clinics, hospitals, medical groups, or insurance companies, including taking vital signs. Students will be exposed to billing forms, eligibility guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid/Media-Cal, and billing procedures for dental care, Tricare, Blue Shield/Blue Cross, and Workers' Compensation.

What Does A Medical Biller do?

Medical Billers assign a code to each diagnosis and procedure by using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS books. As a Medical Biller you will learn how to correctly submit clean claims for governmental and private insurance companies using electronic health records (EHR) and computer software.

 

What kind of training will I receive?

The Medical Biller program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to work as an entry-level medical biller. The Program provides basic knowledge of medical terms. Focus is placed on the recognition, definition, spelling and pronunciation of these medical terms while also learning the structures and functions of the body through general study of anatomy and physiology. Additionally, students will be trained in CPR and First Aid, including burns, acute illness and other such emergencies. Students will be exposed to billing forms, eligibility guidelines for Medicare, Medicade/Medi-Cal, and billing procedures for dental care, Tricare, Blue shield/Blue Cross, and Workers' Compensation. students will learn the use of ICD-9, HCPCS and CPT books for coding diagnoses and procedures. Students will use computers to perform simulated practice of medical billing procedures and learn the function and impact of electronic health records (EHR) while using Medisoft application software.
